GRAND TIME

What We Cook

Italian method, mostly Chiba ingredients — the coast and farmland just east of Tokyo. Served from 11:30 a.m. straight through to closing.

All prices include tax

Pizza

Lemon and Chiba honey pizza

Lemon & Chiba Honey

Made with honey produced in Chiba. Sweet against sharp — good at the end of a meal, or with a glass of sparkling at the start of one.

¥1,800

Snow crab pizza

Snow Crab

Snow crab across the base — the richest of the eight.

¥2,200

Pasta

Local hamaguri clam spaghetti, Japanese style

Local Hamaguri Clam Spaghetti

Hamaguri clams from the Chiba coast, opened into the pan so the pasta finishes in their liquor. Seasoned Japanese-style rather than strictly Italian.

¥2,080

Showa-retro omelet pasta

Showa-Retro Omelet Pasta

Pasta under a soft-set omelet, with Chiba eggs and Hokuso pork bacon. A Japanese comfort dish rather than an Italian one — and the house specialty.

¥1,680

Boso Pork

A Chiba pork brand, raised on a feed that includes domestic rice, seaweed and vitamin E. It stays tender, and the fat is clean rather than heavy.

Boso pork braised in red wine

Braised in Red Wine

Cooked down slowly until it gives way to a fork.

¥1,980

Boso pork porchetta

Porchetta

Rolled, herbed and roasted.

¥1,780

Beef

Senba beef

Senba beef is a scarce Chiba brand, raised in the countryside east of Tokyo. We buy it direct from Iwabuchi Farm. Fine marbling, soft texture, and a clean sweetness to the fat rather than a heavy one.

Antipasti — Warm

From something small to go with a drink, to a plate that could be a meal.

Cold Plates

Golden eye snapper carpaccio

Golden Eye Snapper Carpaccio

Kinmedai landed in Chiba. Our people bid for it at the Ohara Port auction, mostly, and it is sliced thin here. See how we buy the fish.

¥1,280

Cheese platter from Isumi, Chiba

Cheese from Isumi

From a small workshop in Isumi, on the Chiba coast. Handmade, so quantities are limited and the selection changes.

¥1,500

Salads

Curry & Naan

Not Italian, and we make no apology for it. Curry is a Jimbocho institution — the district is as well known for it as for the bookshops. Each curry comes with rice; the second price is for the curry on its own, without rice.

White curry with shrimp and clams

Shrimp & Clam White Curry

Pale rather than brown — unusual even in Japan. You can choose the heat.

¥1,550 / ¥1,350 without rice

GrandTime spice chicken curry

GRAND TIME Spice Chicken Curry

Our own blend of spices.

¥1,200 / ¥1,000 without rice

Payment
Credit cards, IC cards (Suica / PASMO), QR payments and cash.
Menu changes
Some plates depend on what came in that day, so the list can shift. If something has just arrived, we will tell you.
